Diocese of Kandy

The Diocese of Kandy comprises the central province of Sri Lanka and is situated in the hill country.
It is divided into three vicariates, namely, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Matale, which coincide with the local government administrative districts.
The tea plantation sector, for which Sri Lanka is well known, covers a large part of the diocese.

Vocation Camp - 2012

A vocation camp was held at St.Joseph's Minor Seminary Poornawatte, Kandy on 5th and 6th of January 2012.
There were fifteen participants who sat for the G.C.E.(O/L) Examination in 2011. The Chief Shepherd of the diocese of Kandy Rt.Rev.Dr.Vianney Fernando delivered the inaugural talk on “Vocation to the Priesthood”.Very Rev. Fr. Milroy Fonseka,the Vicar General of the diocese gave a talk and conducted the Holy Hour in the evening.

There was film shows organized to give a clear picture of the diocese and about the vocation to the priesthood.On the following day after the Holy Mass and breakfast, there was a variety entrainment. The candidates showed their talents by singing, acting short dramas and dancing.Rev.Fr.Colvin Fernandopulle,Rector of the minor seminary,interviewed all the candidates. The programme ended with lunch.
